A “Management Information System” is designed to provide information related to operational performance at all levels of management. The information is collected at the departmental and regional level and its final analysis is done at the central office of the corporation.
The head of the Statistics Branch in the Central Office is the Chief Statistical Officer and under his authority are 3 Senior Statistical Officers, 31 Divisional Statistical Officers, 3 Central Workshop Statistical Officers and 3 Central Office Statistical Officers.
Transport and mechanical engineering measurement factors considered for measuring operational productivity are as follows. Traffic measurement factors - Routes, destinations, useful kilometers, traffic yield, yield per km, percentage load, vehicle utilization, driver/carrier utilization, etc.
Mechanical Engineering Measurement Factors- Vehicle fleet consumption, road failure rate, fuel consumption, lubricant consumption, tire tire consumption, spring consumption etc.
On the basis of the basic information at the departmental level, it is analyzed in different ways and submitted to the departmental management for operational improvement.
At the control committee level, department wise, department wise, information is collected and based on that, the information is analyzed and submitted to the 3 committee management.
At the central level, the information is collated and presented to the central management on agar-wise, department-wise and region-wise basis.
