General Manager (ME) is the head of Department of Mechanical Engineering Department.
Passenger transport is carried out by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) by various types of vehicles. The policy regarding the induction, vehicle types required for passenger transport is decided by the MSRT Corporation. As per the policy of MSRT Corporation, the work of induction of new vehicle in the fleet of Corporation is done by Mechanical Engineering Department.
Structure of ME Department
Major Duties of ME Department:-
- Implementation of New Chassis procurement procedure.
- Planning & Body building on new chassis.
- Develop design of Bus body.
- To take action regarding vehicle scrapping.
- Determine and implement vehicle maintenance & repair program.
- Determination of mechanical parameters & control over achievement.
- Provide technical support for tender process to store & purchase department.
- Develop technical specifications.
- Quality Control on spare parts required for vehicles
- Finalize technical specifications for machinery & equipment. To propose store & purchase department regarding procurement of machinery & equipment.
- Research for new machinery , equipment's & spare parts useful for Corporation.
- Planning for purchase of new tyres, tubes & flaps.
- Retreading of tyres & control over it
